Sheena immediately thought of Yua who was by far the bravest person she knew. Arguably her bravery had put her in this situation, but now she would have to call on Yua’s courage if she was going to survive in prison.

Sheena didn’t know how long Val hugged her, but the emotional and physical exhaustion of that day put her right to sleep. Unfortunately, she was woken up in the pre-dawn hours with a hard slap to the face. Sheena flinched awake to find two cops undoing her restraints. She squeezed her eyes tight, trying to wake up from the nightmare, but the cops were real.

Once she was unrestrained, the cops yanked her to her feet. Now standing for the first time in possibly weeks, Sheena felt how strong her body was. Her arms and legs were heavy and tight but easy to move. She felt like her body was ready to launch up to the ceiling. Before her muscles and joints had been kind of loose, but now they felt like screws in her elbows and knees had been tightened. Her stomach sucked in naturally, and there was a dull pain in her shoulder. Unable to move, she had forgotten about the police damaging her shoulder during her arrest. At least the dermal implant dulled any pain she was feeling.

The police handcuffed her and shoved her along, leading her out of the medical facility. Sheena looked around for Val, but she was nowhere to be seen. Outside the facility, Sheena was gripped by the hair and shoved into the back of a police ATT.

How far is the prison?” Sheena asked.

“You have to go to court before we send you to prison,” one of the cops said.
